Diet & Nutritional Support

What nutritional support can I expect?

When you choose the Peak Specialist Surgical Weight Loss Program, you can expect to receive expert nutritional support, guidance and advice before and after your procedure.

As part of the program package, you will receive the following from our expert team of Dietitians…

  1. Access to the latest body composition equipment and nutritional analysis tools to provide accurate assessment of your individual needs and careful monitoring of your progress,
  2. Six consultations with our Specialist Dieticians,
  3. Email support between visits as required,
  4. An extended exercise prescription appointment is also available (please ask us for details),
  5. The Portion Perfection for Bariatrics Kit. The complete kit comes with a bariatric portion plate, a portion bowl and a handy pocket sized snack bible so you know exactly what to buy and how much to eat.

When will I see a Dietician?

A typical timeline for your visits may include:

  • 1st visit: prior to your surgery
  • 2nd visit: 2 weeks post-procedure
  • 3rd visit: 4 weeks post-procedure
  • 4th visit: 8 weeks post-procedure
  • 5th visit: 12 weeks post-procedure
  • 6th visit: 12 month review appointment.

Our dietitians will liaise with your treatment team including your general practitioner to ensure plans meet your needs and your healthcare team remains informed. Each visit your practitioner will review your progress, discuss any issues you are having, provide education or strategy around those problems and agree on a goal for behavioural change to focus on until the next consultation.

Peak nutrition appointments will be held at Great Ideas In Nutrition. You have the choice of two office locations – Coolangatta or Broadbeach. Our patients will be supported in their weight-loss journey by Amanda Clark, Laura Hosking and Erika Harman.
Additional appointments may be arranged as required on a standard fee for service basis. Health fund and Medicare rebates may apply.
